Johnstown native Geroy Simon got the call for the hall.
Simon, nicknamed “Superman,” learned Wednesday that he will be part of the class for the 2017 Canadian Football Hall of Fame in September.
“I’m both grateful and tremendously proud to be selected by the Canadian Football Hall of Fame for this incredible honor,” Simon said on the BC Lions website.
“Receiving the call from CFL Commissioner (Jeffrey) Orridge a short time ago will be one of the fondest memories of my football career. I was extremely fortunate to take the field with some of the best players in the history of our amazing league, and my thanks go out to them, along with my former coaches.”
Simon had an illustrious 15-year career in the CFL, earning three Grey Cup rings and an MVP award. He also holds league records for receptions (1,029) and receiving yards (16,352).
Simon played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1999-2000), the BC Lions (2001-2012) and the Saskatchewan Roughriders (2013).
He was a six-time CFL All-Star and had 63 100-yard receiving games and three 200-yard games.
